• In Ireland the Roman Catholic church claimed the church's teaching of "mental reservation" allowing bishops to mislead police away from pedophiles, thus allowing the sidespread molestation to continue, stating it is not a sin to lie as long as the sex criminal doing the molesting is a nun or priest.
